National park barrier free
Signet "Bavaria barrier-free"
Together, the Bavarian authorities want to remove barriers and enable more participation in social life. The goal: Many more people should actively participate in the implementation of accessibility! The "Bavaria barrier-free" signet is awarded for concrete, notable contributions to accessibility in Bavaria. The signet is a sign of recognition for all those who are breaking down barriers in Bavaria. But it is also an incentive to do even more for accessibility.
Accessibility plays an important role in the Internet presence of the Berchtesgaden National Park. According to the "Ordinance on the Creation of Barrier-Free Information Technology in Accordance with the Act on Equal Opportunities for Persons with Disabilities" (BITV), all publicly funded websites must be designed to be barrier-free. This means that people with disabilities should also be able to find their way around.
However, accessibility is not only an issue on the Internet
Barriers such as high door thresholds, stairs, texts that are difficult to read and so on can make it difficult for people with disabilities to access facilities or participate in events. Berchtesgaden National Park provides various services for people with disabilities, including barrier-free guided tours. In addition, some hiking trails in the national park are also suitable for wheelchair users. The national park center "Haus der Berge" as well as the education center are also barrier-free to a large extent. The offer is to be expanded in the future.
Barrier free tours
Some guided walks from our "Program for schools, kindergartens, children and young people" are also suitable for wheelchair users. Since environmental education always appeals to all the senses, many of the guided tours are also interesting for people with mental disabilities. We are happy to respond to your suggestions and needs. On request, we also offer excursions in sign language.
Barrier free hiking program
Due to the difficult accessibility of the terrain in the Alpine National Park, only some of our offers can be designed for guests in wheelchairs - these are marked with the wheelchair symbol: Since even these offers are not equally easy for everyone, we would like to ask you to consult with the Haus der Berge National Park Center at telephone: +49 8652 979060-0 before participating in a guided tour marked in this way. Guests with walking difficulties can rent electric scooters, rollators or wheelchairs from the local medical supply stores.
Model management plan on the subject of "accessibility"
Model Management Plan Accessibility
As part of the project, a "Model Management Plan Accessibility" was created for the Berchtesgaden National Park. The plan deals with the existing offers of the Berchtesgaden National Park for people with disabilities or with their improvement and expansion. On the one hand, the plan gives comprehensive suggestions for measures to expand the offers for people with disabilities. This concerns not only the national park alone, but also providers in advance (public transport, shipping Königssee, etc.). Above all, better communication of the existing offers is important. By summer 2006, a comprehensive package of measures for accessibility with time horizons and cost estimates is also to be developed and incorporated into the existing national park plan.
